Last night's curry wasn't properly thought through. The flavours were all there - my favourite coconut, ginger & lime ones - but they jarred with one another. The things that bookended the meal felt somehow wrong, too.
Organising negatives, today. Pulling up my socks and getting on. Snipping, filing, labelling; these are the jobs I want on a rainy Sunday afternoon.
Quiet employment is the best kind. Turns out even the curry's better today.

I sometimes think that curries are like wines and cheeses. You can do everything the same way in creating them, but the end results can vary. And then they can vary from day to day.
I like their inconsistencies and their unpredictability.

Curry? Do I smell curry? Sometimes it *is* better the second day, like an Italian red sauce.

Susan: She was pumpkin-based, one carved up in honour of Halloween. Our guests thought it good - they went back for seconds and thirds - but I didn't make it with the care I usually do. Yes. A matryoshka doll. Have a thing for 'em.
