Hi Lucinda Thank you for your wonderful work. Your images and words sooth and inspire me. I am pleased to read your comments re CAM therapies. I have recently completed a qualification in Western Herbal Medicine and call myself Herbal Complement. I wonder when the paths became so divided between the two modalities? I needed a surgeon for my caesarian section but would not have bounced back quite so well from a terrible flu without my herbs.

I think it's important to note that the use of herbs for medicinal purposes and homeopathy are not in any way the same - esp if you are talking about 'debunkng'. My understanding is that homeopathic remedies are effectively 'magic water' , that is water with no discernable trace of the original remedy remaining in it, as it has been diluted to such an enormous degree. This is indeed something that can be debunked (and has been), with numerous studies showing it to be no more effective than a placebo. If it's your placebo of choice though, and it works for you, that's great. I've got no problems with people using alternative remedies, but when it comes down to it, if you want to call it medicine, it needs to be testable, and it needs to show benefit greater than a sugar pill.
