When I was a very little girl, I used to go with my grandparents to pick crabapples, and then my Grandma would make crabapple jelly! Thanks for the memory.

Beautiful! I have Mes Confitures, a book on jams and jellies by the reigning French queen of the subject, Christine Ferber. Nearly all of her jelly recipes are based on the apple stock pectin that she teaches how to make early in the book. The book is very poorly translated from French to English, and it isn't very precise, but it is rich in ideas and creativity. I think you may enjoy checking it out, even if it is only for leisurely browsing. I hope all is well with you.

never had crabapple jelly but my mum always made quince jelly and I think they look similarly gorgeous - just right for your light infused photography - love your jam jar lid collection

A technical question, if I may: do you process your jelly for storage (re: a water bath canner) and, if so, do you re-use commercial jars/lids? It looks like a lovely hodge-podge collection by your photo, but everything I read on canning calls for new lids each time (for Mason jars particularly). I'm curious if this is truly necessary - only a veteran jelly-maker would know ;)

Chelsea: You know, I've never really read anything on the proper ways...and I must confess that I always use jars (with their lids) I've collected 'cos it seems so much less wasteful that way! BUT, I do wash them scrupulously, boil them furiously then dry them all upside down on a fresh teatowel. I used Tamasin Day-Lewis' advice on this and it's not - as yet, fingers crossed - been a problem. How are you??
